Long-lasting cut flowers in the vase

Cut flowers are a wonderful addition to home decor, and they brighten up both the home and the mood. With proper care, cut flowers can stay beautiful so that you can enjoy their beauty for as long as possible. Here are some simple tips for long-lasting care of cut flowers in the vase.

The first important step is to change the water regularly. Old water can contain bacteria that shorten the lifespan of cut flowers. It is important to change the water at least once a day and clean the vase before adding fresh water. At the same time, you can cut new angled stems on the cut flowers. If you have flower food available, add it to the water.

The placement of the cut flowers is also important. Flowers do not like direct sunlight or large temperature fluctuations. It is best to place them in a room with an even temperature and shade. If possible, place them in a cooler room overnight.

With these simple tips, you can keep your cut flowers fresh longer and enjoy their beauty. Try these tips and enjoy long-lasting blooms in your home.

Choosing a vase

At home, it is good to have different vases on hand so that you can easily find a suitable vase for your bouquet. A tulip vase like the Aalto vase beautifully displays a lush tulip bouquet.

In this bouquet, I am using an Iittala Kastehelmi vase. This bouquet is so lush that it stays well in the vase. If the bouquet is lighter and the vase is large, the bouquet can stay together better if you tie it together. Sometimes I also place a flower frog at the bottom, so the bouquet becomes airier and stays beautiful without the flowers falling to the sides.

Good scissors for stems

Invest in good scissors when cutting stems so that the stem stays as healthy as possible. With quality scissors, it is easy to cut the stems to the right size for the vase. I have Fiskars scissors, florist shears, and garden shears.

I hope this helps! Let me know if there’s anything else you need.
